How to turn on HD uploads in WhatsApp
In WhatsApp, open Settings, then Storage and Data, then Media Upload Quality, and choose HD Quality. From then on, photos and videos you send are uploaded in HD by default.
Step by step on iPhone
- Open WhatsApp and tap Settings at the bottom.
- Tap Storage and Data.
- Tap Media Upload Quality and choose HD Quality. There's no save button; just go back.
What it changes
- HD uploads apply to what you send, not what you receive.
- HD uses more mobile data. On a small data plan, you may prefer to post on Wi-Fi.
- It doesn't stop Status compression on its own, which is why the send-to-yourself-then-forward routine still matters.
